The Anchor is currently under refurbishment but our intended opening date had to be postponed due to our Premises License being delayed by a hearing held by East Hampshire District Council. You will be pleased to hear that all went well and work will resume on the building shortly. It would be nice to think we will be open for All Hallows’ Eve but failing that we will definitely be open for the run up to Christmas. We intend to be child friendly and hope to put in a children’s playground in the garden and serve a wide selection of soft drinks. As the Landlady is a smoker, we will be providing sheltered smoking facilities outside. We plan to have live music every Friday and Saturday night. If you have any suggestions of bands you would like us to book, please let us know and we will see what we can do. We also plan to serve simple bar food to start with, but the menu will be extended as we get more established. We are aware the toilets need improving and we are hoping to build new toilets (subject to planning permission) in the near future but due to time constraints they may not be ready by the time we open, so please bear with us during the building work. The Function Room (for those of you who know it) will, for the foreseeable future, remain as is, all bar the addition of a Large Screen TV and perhaps a Pool Table. It is our intention to make this available for Private Functions, i.e. Weddings, Children’s Parties, Birthday Parties, etc.
